Leesburg itself has a bustling main street and plays host to a number of year-round events and festivals such as Black Heritage Festival, Mardi Gras, Leesburg Art Festival, Bikefest, 4th of July and Christmas, which attract thousands of visitors each year.

There are also sporting events such as bass fishing and softball tournaments. The Leesburg Lightning, a team in the Florida Collegiate Summer League, plays baseball each summer at historic Pat Thomas Stadium.

The Harris Chain of Lakes

There are seven lakes in the Harris chain, including Big and Little Harris, Dora, Carlton, Beauclair, Eustis, and Griffin. It's a paradise for boaters, anglers and kayakers to explore. A popular day trip is to boat north from Lake Griffin to visit the famous Silver Springs in Ocala. The round trip can be completed in one day and it is well worth the effort.
