New Tax Incentive Lowers Cost of Manufactured Homes in Florida

Among the many reasons to choose a manufactured home, the affordable pricing is certainly one of the more attracting factors.  If you’re in the market for a new manufactured home in Florida, that cost is coming down.  On July 1st, 2021, a new tax relief bill, CS/HB 7071, was signed into law lowering the sales tax for new manufactured homes in the state of Florida from 6% to 3%.  Now, how does this exactly impact potential resident, well, let us explain!

In an article written on MHVillage.com, Jim Ayotte, the president of the Florida Manufactured Housing Association (FMHA) was quoted stating, “The tax cut will reduce the cost of a new manufactured home in Florida by an average of $4,200”.  To give this some context, according to a 2021 Manufactured Housing census data report, the average cost of a new manufactured home nationwide was $123,200 while the average cost of a new on-site built home was $491,000.  So, adding on that $4,200 cut to the average cost of a new manufactured home should excite anyone looking into this market.
