In 2007 Ocala and Marion County was officially named the "Horse Capital of the World," because of the County's involvement in equestrian events and its record of producing some of the finest champions in the sport. Of course, it helps that the climate and the soil is perfect for morning horses.

2022 Special Events in the Ocala Area

 Every first Saturday of the month Free First Saturday Museum of Art Admission is free on the first Saturday of each month. Practice the art of staycation and visit our permanent collection and special exhibitions.
Every Friday from 9am-2pm Marion County Market Friday Every Friday morning enjoy the Marion County market. You’ll find a variety of products such as fresh produce, fresh seafood, a variety of olive oils and vinaigrette, mouthwatering pastries, beef jerky and freeze dried candies and fruit snacks.
2/26/22-11/20/22 (ongoing) Sunshine State Open Pleasure Show Series Enjoy an open show with beautiful horses of all breeds and all disciplines open show!
7/5/2022-9/6/2022 (ongoing)  Hardee’s Dunnellon Bike Night Meet up with fellow bikers every Tuesday at 5:00 pm at Hardees restaurant in Dunnellon. All bikes are welcome. Kick tires and meet new friends!
